Celestial Mermaids and Planetary Charms!
These oversized high quality enamel mermaid pins are more than cute ornaments — they were also designed to act as planetary charms. Each mermaid is inspired by one of the seven celestial bodies/deities recognized in traditional astrology. As such, her design incorporates colors, symbols, and sea creatures that resonate with her patron planet. Additionally, each Celestial Mermaid has an affirmation inspired by their respective planetary patron engraved on the back, to help bring the blessings of that planet into your life!
~ Mars ~
This Mermaid’s celestial patron is the planet and deity, Mars! Known in astrology as the Night Sect Malefic, Mars possesses the intemperate flame that ignites the spirit of the soldier, warrior, blacksmith, or athlete. Mars has the capacity to act as both a defender or aggressor. Mars rules war, adrenaline, competition, wrath, frustration, energy, destruction, fire, sharpness, weapons, combustion, motivation, drive, conquest, bloodlust, slaughter, battles, and conflicts of all scales, intensities, and varieties. Although Mars is fierce and volatile, the virtues he bestows are courage, valor, strength, and a willingness to fight for and defend that which is important to you. It is said in the Homeric Hymns that Mars is not only “exceeding in strength,” but also the “Savior of Cities”, the “Father of Warlike Victory,” and an “Ally of Themis,” the goddess of Justice. Here, Homer recognizes and calls upon Mars in his capacity as “[the] defense of Olympus,” and asks for the aid of Mars to “drive away bitter cowardice from [his] head and crush down the deceitful impulses of [his] soul.” He goes on to ask Mars to “Restrain also the keen fury of [his] heart which provokes [him] to tread the ways of blood-curdling strife.” For those who recognize and win the favor of Mars, he may use his mighty powers to instill a fearless heart and may direct his destructive strength towards endeavors that benefit greater creation, instead of senseless cruelty.
Mars’ planetary day is Tuesday, and his duties are to manifest all things that bring harm, destruction, severance, conflict, fire, wrath, and ruin. However, he can also use his powers to destroy the chains that hold us back, sever us from those who would abuse us, grant us victory in battle against our enemies, and embolden our spirits to fight for and take what we want with courage, strength, valor, and vigor.
Mars’ celestial affirmation reads: ”I am victorious; I pursue my ambitions with courage, determination, vigor, and valor.”
